Howie – Nobody Gave Me A Chance
When I first got into this program everybody told me that I wasn’t getting into radio, radio was an extremely hard business to get into that none of the interns that they had here before the internship of a couple of weeks is nothing compared to what you can get through Jim’s Career Connections which is a hands on day after day. Al my mentor calling me up and bugging me everyday to come in and do work. That’s the kind of program that’s needs to be done and I think that that’s what is going to come out on top. These communication schools aren’t, they are just not going to work because I have seen too many people that I know have gone to these schools and they are working at waiters because they can’t get a job on radio. They don’t know anybody. I guess the only reason I got this job here is because I knew the program director, I knew people in the business and when they were looking for somebody to hire I was right there in their face. I was already interning at the radio station. I knew the ins and outs of what was going on here and if it wasn’t for Jim I wouldn’t be sitting here talking to you today. I wouldn’t have the job of producing the number one morning show in the market. Its awesome opportunity and for my first job in radio I am better off than some people that went to school and they have been doing this for 5 or 10 years.
