When
our environment, when I teach with some exceptions is here at the radio
station. And so this is important, people tend to underestimate this.
You are
in the radio station. You get a feel for what’s going on. You are not
on the air but you get a feel for what’s going on. You are in the radio
station with a guy who works at the station. You see me talking and
saying hi to people who work here. You are now at that station. You are
not in a classroom where after it’s over, now you got to go to a radio
station, you have no sense of it. I think it’s important, really do. If
you wanted to be a pilot, okay you can only take so many classes.
Eventually you have to fly. And I think it’s the same thing.

I
have been connected with Career Connection for the last 5
years. I have been an instructor for them. The whole concept of Career
Connection in my opinion is brilliant because it harkens back to a time
when
students were people that apprenticed with professionals and that has
been the
basis of the whole Career Connection idea, a one on one approach.

The advantage of doing one on one as opposed to a classroom
is, if I am facing someone directly and there is no one else around,
they feel less inhibited about asking me questions. They feel less
inhibited about saying what about if I go to do this or how about if I
pronounce it this way. If you are in a class, with 15 other people the
teacher may be wonderful, but you feel a little bit more intimidated
and inhibited about raising your hand, you think am I taking up too
much time? Your time is my time. My time is your time. You know I am
running rather on your meter. So and you are my boss in that sense when
you are my student ironically. But any questions you need to ask they
are asked immediately, you don’t have to wait, you don’t have to hedge.
You can call me, you can email me, want all my students have done.
